Integer Programming for Layout Problems

Prof. Dr. Peter Wonka, KAUST, Thuwal (Saudi Arabia)

30 Jun 2017, 10:00–11:30; Location: S3|05-074 (Fraunhofer IGD)

In this talk, we will give an introduction to Integer Programming (IP) and show how we used IP in recent research projects. The projects range from problem formulations in visualization to urban modeling. The talk will focus mainly on the modeling side of integer programming, i.e. how to formulate a given problem as integer program.

Peter Wonka is Associate Director of the Visual Computing center (VCC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Professor in the Computer Science program.

Peter Wonka received his doctorate from the Technical University of Vienna in computer science. Additionally, he received a Masters of Science in Urban Planning from the same institution. After his PhD, Dr. Wonka worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology and as faculty at Arizona State University.

His research interests include various topics in computer graphics, visualization, remote sensing, computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and data mining.
