The Finite Difference Time Domain (FD-TD) algorithm, originally proposed by K. S. Yee, is one of the most common algorithm for the time-domain simulation of electromagnetic problems. This is essentially due to the fact that the FD-TD algorithm is explicit, so that its computationally complexity and memory requirement are low, and to the fact that the limit to the integration time-step ensuring stability is not severe.
Recently a novel technique has been proposed by the Author for extending the FDTD algorithm to tetrahedral grids, preserving its merits. The performance of the algorithm will be discussed in this talk, in which the results of some numerical investigations will be presented.
